Investigating the Problem
The city of Akron needs a way to help beautify itself because dull and uninteresting landscapes and buildings can lead to mental and physical health effects.
There are many reasons as to why Akron is not as pretty as it could be. The first reason is how cities have been built for decades. According to Vishaan Chakrabarti, a famous architect, in an article by Chip Cutter, he states that the reason is because of cost, building regulations, and the fear of change.
Secondly, we have a massive littering and homelessness problem. Akron itself has an estimated 850 homeless people on any given day. This is due to the lack of shelters and overall well paying jobs. The homeless community is integral to the mission of bettering Akron's image. I would like to include some sort of way to benefit this community, and hopefully engage them into getting homes, jobs, and cleaning up.
